The Foundry

Hey all! Got quite a bit to say and while I encourage you to read the whole thing to get the full story here’s the TL;DR: I need some “me” time so effective immediately posts will be less regular/frequent, commissions are closed until further notice, and BIG things are in the works so stick around for future updates!

Ok, so what’s the lowdown? Well, long story short is I’m tired, burnt out, and I need a change of pace. I’ve done my best to post a new brew every month and I’ve mostly succeeded on that front. The downside to that is that puts a lot of pressure on me and it can get really overwhelming, especially recently when I’ve had a lot of other things going on. Another side effect to that is I’ve had to set aside my own personal projects for the sake of putting out stuff for the blog or doing commissions. While I do still enjoy making stuff, it’s begun to feel more and more like a job than a hobby, and not in a good way. So I’m making the decision that from now on I’m going to take my time, work on my own stuff first, and release things when I can (sounds obvious but I really struggle to pace myself). This will mean my uploads will be less regular and less frequent.

Commissions have been a similar story. While I’ve enjoyed taking them on, learning from the experience, and making a little extra on the side, I took on more than I could handle and it’s left me feeling overwhelmed most of the time, especially since it’s been multiple back-to-back massive projects that take months at a time. Like I said, I do enjoy working on them. I’ve gotten to work with some wonderful people and y’all have some awesome ideas that I’m all too happy to bring into reality, but it takes a toll. At the time of writing this, I have a few commissions in the pipeline still but I’m not taking on any new ones for the time being. I’ll start taking them again in the future once I get things sorted out and I’m in a better place to do so.

So, what about the future of the blog? Well, as I’m sure it’s of no surprise to anyone, I have some HUGE plans that I couldn’t be more excited about. I’m going to keep things vague for now since I want it to be a surprise but let’s just say I’m opening up a new division of the Foundry. I’m also going to be making other changes to how I do things and what sort of content I produce, putting a greater focus on quality instead of bouncing between quality and quantity. As always, you’ll hear more from me as things progress.
