Where Dreams Become Brews

A Few Magical Items

Got a couple items for ya today. The first one is based of a card from Magic: the Gathering called Manakin and I thought it would make for a quirky little magical item. All it does is bring you random stuff in the morning. The other item was a cool off-hand mention during an episode of WebDM by Johnathan Pruitt, I wish I could remember which one. Its a magic lantern that lets you concentrate on another spell but it can be easily blown out.

Manikin of Artifice
Wonderous item, uncommon

This small, wooden manikin clothed in a blue dress gives off a feint magical aura but otherwise appears completely mundane. After finishing a long rest, the manikin will appear within 5 feet of you brandishing an item, regardless of where the manikin was before the rest occured. To determine the item, the DM rolls a d20. On a 19 or below, roll on the Trinkets table (pg. 160 of the Player’s Handbook). If a 20 is rolled, you receive a common magical item (pg. 136 Xanathar’s Guide to Everything), DM’s choice.

Arcane Lantern
Wonderous Item, rare (requires attunement by a spellcaster)

This elegant metalwork lantern burns with a cold blue flame and gives off a strong magical aura.  As an action you can light the lantern and while lit it allows a spellcaster to concentrate on an additional spell. It also produces bright light for 60 feet and dim light for an additional 60 feet. Like a normal lantern, water or a strong wind will blow out the flame. If this happens while being used to concentrate on a spell, the spell will end.
